The UnloyalEXT. - Suburban Neighborhood - Late NightSCENE: Running from the Law
The sound of someone running is heard. FADE IN: The view of someone's shoes as they're running comes into view. Camera pans slowly upward to the person's face. It's a boy of 16 years old. When the camera gets to the boy's face, a police car is seen over the boy's shoulder turning onto the same street. The boy then darts out of view. NARRATOR:
The boy runs in between two houses and climbs through some tall, thick brush and then over a fence. The boy is trying to catch his breath but is surprised when the motion detecting security lights are activated lighting up the whole backyard. He instantly runs across the yard and climbs another fence into the next door neighbor's yard. But that yard has motion detecting security lights also, so he continues on to the next yard...then the next yard...then the next yard.
The boy gets to another street and tries to act inconspicuous as he continues to walk down the sidewalk. He notices a police car slowly driving down the street towards him. The boy then runs towards a house and dives over a small brick decorative divider that encloses evergreens in the front of a house. When the police car gets in front of the house he's hiding in front of, the police flood light goes right past him. He hears the dispatcher coming from the police radio. DISPATCHER:
(coming from the police squad car) The boy begins to remember the last run-in with the police...
INT. - Full Basement/Family Room - EveningSCENE: Flashback Number One
The boy is sitting in the family T.V. room in his pajamas on the couch. He's watching television and snacking from a bag of Doritos. His mother enters the room.
THE BOY'S MOTHER:
POLICE OFFICER:
Good evening. I came to arrest you for the shenanigans you pulled last night, but your mother talked me out of it. You should thank her. The boy and his mother look at one another.
EXT. - Suburban Neighborhood - Late NightSCENE: The Little Calumet River
After the police pass the boy, while he was laying in the evergreens behind a small brick divider, he decides to get up and head for the bridge that allowed you to cross the border between the city of Hammond and the town of Munster. Unfortunately, the boy notices a police car parked on the bridge. It was obvious it was waiting there for him, because this bridge was the only access to the other side in the area. The boy decides to make it down a steep grassy hill to get to the bank of the Little Calumet River. He decides he's going to cross the border by walking across the river. He takes off his socks & shoes and rolls up his pant legs as far as he could. Just as he was about to cross, he hears the police squad car take-off in a hurry. The boy puts back on his socks & shoes, rolls his pant legs back down and begins the climb up the steep grassy hill. He checks to see if the coast is clear and then darts across the bridge very quickly. Since there was nowhere to hide and pretty much nowhere to go (but over the side), he figured he better get across the bridge as fast as he can. Once across, he runs into a more familiar neighborhood. He's now on the side of the border he belongs. He thinks back on how he got in this position in the first place. INT. - BASEMENT BAR - LATE NIGHTSCENE: Flashback Number Two/Face on Fire
There are like 12-15 kids in basement at the boy's house, ranging in age between 15 to 17-years-old. In the basement there was a bar that was built by his grandfather. They were drinking beer, doing shots of Everclear and smoking pot. BOY
The boy fills a shot glass full of Everclear and lights it on fire. Everybody stops talking and watches. Most wonder if they're about to witness a terrible tragedy.
As easy as one, two, three...the boy slams the "Flaming Shot" without a problem. Everybody cheers. The boy's cousin Mike sees what a response it gave and decides he's going to do it too. The only thing is, Mike is totally intoxicated.
Mike takes a shot glass and a bottle of Everclear and pours himself a shot. He poured it rather carelessly and makes a mess, pouring it all over his hand and the bar. Before anyone realizes what he's doing, he lights it on fire. Now the entire shot glass is on fire, along with Mike's hand and the bar. But still, all in one motion, Mike throws the flaming liquid at his face and now his face is on fire as well.
Jason, Steve and the other guys try to put Mike's face out by everybody slapping him in the face. Everybody's yelling. Meanwhile, Mike just sits there with his eyes shut tight getting slapped like crazy. Mike is gripping the front of the bar as if he were on a roller coaster.
Eventually, the fire gets put out. Mike had burned his eyebrows and eyelashes off with a little bit of his hair. He sits at the bar with two swollen eyes, a fat lip with a bloody nose. All of a sudden, (after the fact) Benjie is seen flying through the air, over the bar and slaps the shit out of Mike. Mike falls off his bar stool; Benjie falls laying atop the bar. Everybody in the room starts laughing loudly.
Steve and Jason B. help Mike off the floor. Mike is still rather dazed.
